MVRDV’s Dramatic Glass Cube Pavilion Will Raise Ocean Awareness at the 2012 World Expo

    The <a href="http://eng.expo2012.kr/is/ps/unitybbs/bbs/selectBbsDetail.html?ispsBbsId=BBS088&amp;ispsNttId=0000012754">2012 World Expo</a> will be taking place in South Korea in just over 200 days, and <a href="http://www.mvrdv.nl/#/news">MVRDV</a> recently sent us new diagrams of this dramatic <a href="http://inhabitat.com/mvrdv-unveils-water-cube-pavilion-for-the-2012-korean-world-expo/">water cube pavilion (which we first unveiled to you last year)</a> they are erecting for the show. The building is designed as a series of water basins that represent or even mimic some aspect of ocean life - whether it is the deep sea, tropical waters, or life-sustainining <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coral_reef">coral reefs</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangrove">mangrove forests</a>. The naturally lit and ventilated glass-wrapped cube is organized around a central vacuum reached by an underground tunnel. Hit the jump for a closer look!
