Welder extraordinaire and life-long Bronxite, Chris Marche is in the midst of creating an amazing 10 foot scuptlure out of recycled bicycles that will soon tower over Fordham Road. While his project is extremely popular with and partly funded by the Fordham Road Business Improvement District, Marche has two weeks left to raise the remaining amount of funds to make the magic happen. His project page on the Lower East Side-based fundraising site, Lucky Ant, describes his painstaking process and the amazing rewards investors can receive for being a part of the coolest recycled sculpture around town. If you're Bronx-born yourself or just a lover a bikes, please head on over there and help him out!

Growing up in the Bronx, Marche was constantly welding in body shops around town. His passion grew and soon he began collecting junk from neighbors and local businesses.

Marche made a name for himself around this time last year with his amazing brick-a-brack sculpture called "Silver" along Fordham Road. He welded together a mix of everyday items including a refrigerator, a mannequin, and security cameras. The pieces were then sprayed silver and had the word "Fordham" (with the O as a heart) embedded in the center.

Locals and officials loved the piece so much, they jumped at the opportunity to get involved in his next piece.

The enormous multi-colored bicycle tower will not only bring new visitors to the area but also encourage recycling.

With two weeks of fundraising left, Marche is offering a slew of amazing rewards. Investors can enjoy returns such as a signed sketch of the project, one-on-one welding lessons with the master sculptor himself, or their very own original work of metal art.
