OFF Architecture’s Terraced Green Roofed Apartments To Add Landscaping to Anglet France

<a href="http://www.offarchitecture.com/" target="_blank">OFF Architecture</a> is all about green roofs, so it comes as no surprise to us that their new proposal for an apartment complex in Anglet, France is covered with them. The four story, <a href="http://inhabitat.com/green-roofed-high-school-in-france-by-off-architecture/">terraced</a> apartment blocks are laden with vegetation and lush greenery almost to the point where you might think it's a little overgrown. Taking over two adjacent blocks, the apartment complex features underground parking and a verdant escape in the middle of the city.

The two kitty-corner lots have enough space for seven apartment blocks all oriented to the east and west to take advantage of solar exposure.

Site 1 features two long building with a terraced profile and a central shared green belt in the middle.

The apartments are spacious and filled with light.

Covered in vegetation, then entire block appears to be a massive green space when seen from above.

The <a href="http://inhabitat.com/over-a-thousand-terraced-green-roofs-grace-jdss-olympic-port-proposal-for-rio/">terraced apartments</a> also are covered in draping greenery and protruding balconies to camouflage the building in the urban environment.

Site 2 consists of a series of buildings on a slope that feature large balconies with shaded overhangs to help infiltrate light and views into the space.

All of the buildings appear to have been designed and placed to minimize shade from the surrounding buildings

The lushness of the terraces and <a href="http://inhabitat.com/category/green-roof">green roofs</a> provide a stark contrast with the surrounding urban fabric and create an oasis and space in which to retreat.
