Dutch designer Sam van Veluw has developed a new way to answer the call of nature at outdoor events and venues. After a long search for a public restroom at a music concert one evening, he came up with the concept of strapping a waterless urinal onto a tree. These would be simple to install and can relieve the pressure on porta-potties (we had to use the pun) at public events. Its practical application may be questionable, but it is a refreshing approach to what can be a pressing problem.

This is stupid. If people are going to see you peeing anyway, just skip the strap on urinal and pee on the side of the tree…
Good idea. But I think they should redesign the urinal so that people don’t see your pen!$.
This is really good for a country like India.(at least that is what I think)
This is a great idea for anywhere! All you have to do is to put up a temporary wall. Two posts and some cloth or tarp would do it. Much easier to take down and move than a whole port-o-pottie, right?
Turns out urine is mostly sterile and an excellent fertilizer as well, filling up those undiluted jugs of urine and/or a truck would be great too. This reduces a lot of the energy requirements of waste-water treatment plants.
Too much fertilizing will kill the plants though. I am more a pessimist on this one… people will just fill it with garbage. Now the challenge is… make a female version!
Where do you buy one? Would be very useful in a watch tower and route the tubing all the way to the ground.
Answer: not available that I know of…
Question: where do I buy these
