Floating Shipping Container Pool by 2pm ArchitectsAs summer hits its peak, Paris and Bordeaux-based 2:pm Architectures and Dauphins Architecture recently unveiled plans to transform an old barge into an incredible floating shipping container pool. The summertime retreat can sail the waters of the Garonne River or dock on-shore and serve as a movable park for the city of Bordeaux to enjoy. The eco-conscious oasis repurposes an industrial barge, shipping containers, and it saves energy and resources by filtering water from the Garonne to fill its pools.1

Each is allocated for different purposes - reception/check in, an office for lifeguards, a locker room, men and women’s showers and toilets, and a small infirmary.4

River water would be taken in as the barge moves down the river, sent through the filtration system, and then it fills each of the pools. The water would be clean and fresh, without the harsh chemicals used in other public pools.6

Even better, the project could dock and create a makeshift public park for residents to enjoy.7
