Dutch designer Damian O’Sullivan, has found a way to bring sunlight indoors with his Solar Lampion. The ingenuous lamp is composed of 36 standard-sized solar cells that collect sunlight during the day, and then shine at night. What we love about the Solar Lampion is that through simple geometric arrangement, it manages to transform something that is usually so bulky and ugly (solar panels) into a charming sculptural object. The fact that it is practical and energy efficient only makes it that much better. While it’s durable enough to keep outside – the Solar Lampion is so cute that we think you’ll want to bring it indoors to light up your summer nights.

Thank god the lamp looks far from as cheesy as that last line sounded, though.
I like this. Wonder how bright the light is and if you can turn it off. If it’s bright enough (and ability to turn off), it’ll make a good camping light.
See the last comment on Mocoloco. It soes not look like this is lamp available for purchase which is shame since the other options for solar lighting are not so great.
Nice, was recently using solar panels in a project, where I was exploring similar concepts. Integrating of solar panels atttractivley seems an improtant way forward to sustainable living.
Arranging them in plant like formations, seems the obvious way, id love too see leaf shaped solar panels.

I would love to buy this item aswell. Its the only solar powered lamp that i’ve seen which actually looks nice! It would make an awesome gift idea for others. Any news on getting it manufactured? You must have been approached to get this made by now..
