Spanish Architects Transform a Disused Marketplace into a Fun Children’s Center

<a href="http://www.miquelmarine.com/">Miquel Mariné Núñez</a> and <a href="http://www.cesaruedarquitecto.com/">César Rueda Boné</a> transformed a long-unoccupied marketplace in Alcañiz, Spain into a fun children's center. The idea was to establish a lively and safe place for children to play and learn without making undue changes to the existing, <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/french-historical-building/">historical building</a>, so the design team created a brand new interior structure that can be removed if necessary. This old marketplace hasn't been used in many years

The designers wanted the option of restoring its public function just in case

A new double storey wooden structure encloses a kindergarten and play space for the children

The structure is basically reversible

A lime-green rubber floor keeps the space safe and durable for kids to play on

Much of the remaining structure has been left virtually untouched
