• SuperBrands at London Design Festival, Richard Hutton
Sharing a venue with Tent London, SuperBrands is billed as a rare opportunity to see some of the world's most illustrious design brands outside of Milan's Salone - and it doesn't disappoint. SuperBrands presents an array of works ranging from funky biodegradable chairs to elegant LED lamps to prove that eco-design is making waves right across the spectrum. Click through the gallery to see some of our highlights from the show.
1
• SuperBrands at London Design Festival, Limited Edition Brick Rug
+ Limited Edition presented two rugs of particular interest. Brick is made from vertically positioned strips of reclaimed leather; a waste material from other design processes. It is a tactile underfoot experience not to be missed.

• SuperBrands at London Design Festival, Gypsy Rug Limited Edition
Their second rug, Gypsy, reuses waste of a different sort. After jacquard rugs fell out of favor, Limited Edition found themselves with excess stock. They decided to cut the rugs up, combine them with leather and create contemporary patchwork rugs dyed in bold colors. Ingenious.

• SuperBrands at London Design Festival, Teixidors
+ Teixidors is a cooperative using manual weaving to help integrate people with learning difficulties into social and work situations. They make merino wool throws, blankets and other accessories. They source all their wool from a single sheep farm, so the entire process is completely traceable from sheep to weave. They use no synthetic dyes - using the natural colour of the wool with accents created using natural dye, everything is hand woven so almost no energy is used in the making process and wool's natural characteristics make them fireproof, renewable and natural.

+ Richard Hutton's product for Ngispen is brilliant in its simplicity - it is laser cut from a single sheet creating absolutely no waste.

• SuperBrands at London Design Festival, Mosa Tiles
+ Mosa claim to be the only tile company in the world to be 'cradle to cradle certified;' which covers every part of the production process from raw materials and recycling to recyclability, a closed water cycle, energy management and working and social conditions for their employees and the communities around them. They have a massive range of colors and even sophisticated computer programs to help you create your own combinations.

• SuperBrands at London Design Festival, Karboxx
+ Karboxx are doing lovely things with LEDs, ensuring their lighting products are not only gorgeous but green too.

• SuperBrands at London Design Festival, Jerszy Seymour
The Amateur Masters Chairs by Jerszy Seymour for + Ngispen are made of polycaprolactone wax, which despite appearances, is very strong and also 100% biodegradable.
