The Pocket Shelter by Aaron Maret is a Portable Space on Wheels

We love <a href="http://inhabitat.com/rustic-and-beautiful-backyard-micro-house-is-built-from-recycled-barnboard/">tiny shelters</a> here at Inhabitat -- and all the better if they can be <a href="http://inhabitat.com/6-cool-camper-and-tent-designs-for-a-summer-adventure/">ported around to different locations</a>. We recently spotted the Pocket Shelter by <a href="http://aaronmaret.com/tag/architecture/">Aaron Maret </a>and fell in love not only with its cool and compact design, but also with the fact that it's made primarily out of local, salvaged and recycled wood. This moveable modern residence on wheels will make for a great <a href="http://inhabitat.com/6-smart-and-sustainable-ways-to-escape-the-summer-heat-at-home/">summer escape</a>, wherever you picture yourself taking in the sun and the scenery this year.

The Pocket Shelter was constructed by Maret in 2010 at a cost of $24,000. The tiny house house on wheels features salvaged millwork and a trailer frame, and boasts natural finishes, and local and <a>renewable materials</a>.

The use salvaged wood, including barn board and reclaimed pine flooring, in addition to birch plywood, give the home a unique colorful and textured aesthetic that is both modern and rustic at once.

The wood siding is used as a rain screen, where instead of mounting the siding boards directly over top of the building paper, there is an air gap between them. This allows the wood to both breath and dry out quickly, deterring any any molding or rotting while providing a more durable envelope.

The good folks at <a href="http://homeenergypartners.com/pages/home.php">Home Energy Partners</a> provided Maret with insulation, spraying the walls and ceiling with <a href="http://www.icynene.com/icynene-ld-r-50/">Icynene</a>.
