Hospitality design firm WATG brought their popular Architectural Bake-off Competition to the Big Apple for the very first time this year, just in time for they city’s Archtober celebration of architecture and design. The contest challenged seven teams (WATG and Wimberly Interiors, Jeffrey Beers International, Bespoke Careers, Studios Architecture, MADE NYC, Grade New York, and Woods Bagot) to interpret their seven iconic buildings using cake, frosting, sugar and other edible materials. The mouthwatering entries were evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges (Michael Laiskonis, Creative Director of Institute of Culinary Education; Benjamin Prosky, Executive Director of AIANY; Stacy Shoemaker, Editor-in-Chief of Hospitality Design; and David Graver, Senior Editor of Cool Hunting) based on flavor, creativity and realism.
The monochromatic model even featured a miniature version of Zaha herself.
Congratz to the winners and don’t forget to flip through our gallery to see all of the delicious entries.
