Undulating Green-Roofed Hotel Opens in Norway

    <a href="http://www.jdsarchitects.com/index_scroll.html" target="_blank">JDS Architects</a> recently announced the grand opening of their latest project - the <a href="http://kitsunenoir.com/2010/08/30/two-seasons-hotel-by-jds-architects/" target="_blank">Two Seasons Hotel</a> situated in the center of Stavanger, Norway. Appearing almost like an M.C. Escher drawing from above, the square building is crowned with an <a href="http://inhabitat.com/2010/03/03/stunning-green-roofed-apartment-building-rises-in-amsterdam/" target="_blank">undulating green roof</a> that dips towards the historic section of town and rises dramatically on the far side to address a nine-story apartment tower. The new hotel has 194 rooms and was designed and built on top of an existing parking garage.

    JDS Architects worked with Brandsberg-Dahls Arkitekter to design the competition-winning plan back in 2008.

    Construction of the hotel commenced this summer and it was officially opened on July 28th to guests.
