  • Brandbase's Amsterdam office built from pallets
Here at Inhabitat we love seeing buildings that make innovative use of recycled materials - we've already shown you an office in Amsterdam made <a title="Affordable, Fun And Eco-friendly Amsterdam Office Built From Pallets" href="http://inhabitat.com/incredible-amsterdam-office-created-entirely-from-cardboard/" target="_blank">completely out of cardboard</a>, and the latest Dutch project to catch our eye is this incredible workspace made entirely from wood shipping pallets! It all started when advertising agency <a title="Affordable, Fun And Eco-friendly Amsterdam Office Built From Pallets" href="http://www.mostarchitecture.com/" target="_blank">Brandbase</a> relocated to a gorgeous but empty canal house right in Amsterdam’s historic city center. They needed some furniture and basic working structures, so they partnered with <a title="Affordable, Fun And Eco-friendly Amsterdam Office Built From Pallets" href="http://www.mostarchitecture.com/" target="_blank">Most Architecture</a> to create an economical, sustainable and creative office built from 270 wooden pallets.

When Dutch advertising and brand activation agency Brandbase relocated to the concentric canal city last year they made their temporary office’s interiors from simple <a title="Affordable, Fun And Eco-friendly Amsterdam Office Built From Pallets" href="http://inhabitat.com/pallet-haus-an-efficient-affordable-modular-house/" target="_blank">wooden shipping pallets</a> that they adapted to suit the deep and narrow space.

These platforms exhibit the agency's creativity while creating a complete flexible workspace that required no glue and no screws - even the coffee coasters are made from pallets!

At the end of the bottom floor there is one office room that is free of pallets - it has been left as a white box and features the latest <a title="Affordable, Fun And Eco-friendly Amsterdam Office Built From Pallets" href="http://inhabitat.com/apple-unveils-thinner-lighter-ipad-2-but-is-it-green/" target="_blank">Apple computers</a>, Herman Miller’s ergonomic <a title="Affordable, Fun And Eco-friendly Amsterdam Office Built From Pallets" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeron_chair" target="_blank">Aeron chairs</a> and lots of natural light coming in from the side.

<a title="Affordable, Fun And Eco-friendly Amsterdam Office Built From Pallets" href="http://www.mostarchitecture.com/" target="_blank">Most Architecture</a> also designed a remarkable glass-topped shipping pallet table for one of the rooms.

At one end of the table the wooden mass turns into a striking set of stairs that takes employees and clients into a bright top floor room.

A detailed look at the stairs reveals the rustic striped texture and inherent beauty of a standard wooden shipping platform.

Brandbase’s top floor is a skylit space where pallets playfully take the shape of desks.

Another meeting room illustrates the various shapes that pallets can take, ranging from mobile tables, a magnificent stacked set of stairs, desks of different heights, walking platforms, and long sofas for sitting or sneaking in a power nap after a lunch.

Perhaps the most brilliant part of the project is that instead of instead of reusing free pallets from scrap yards Brandbase rented them - so they will get most of their deposit money back when the pallets are returned.
