Jesse Randzio’s Amazing Eco-Capsule is a Hanging Tree-Nest in Dorset

Imagine walking through the woods of Dorset on a blistery, snowy day and coming across <a href="http://www.jesserandzio.com/">Jesse Randzio's</a> amazing eco-capsule - it's green, made from local materials, sits in a nest of netting that doubles as a ladder, and there's even an up-cycled stove (and chimney) inside that can boil water for a cup of tea! Jesse used an <a href="http://www.aaschool.ac.uk/AALIFE/HOOKEPARK/hookebuildings.php">AV Custerson Award</a> to conduct a month-long workshop in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Architectural_Association_School_of_Architecture">Hooke Park</a> with 12 students from the <a href="http://www.aaschool.ac.uk/">Architectural Association</a>. The ultimate low-impact woodland retreat, "A Separate Place", is the result of that collaboration.

12 students from the Architectural Association in the UK helped with the project

The team learned proper boat building and rigging techniques, which were applied to the floating capsule

It is made from locally sourced materials

The interior is warm and spacious

Copper rivets keep the shell in place there is a steel chimney

Modeled after a clinker boat, the pod is made with western red cedar planks

Copper trim was also sourced locally

The timber was felled in the nearby woods

This project as zero footprint

The netting is suspended from the trees with tensile cables

This amazing retreat can be enjoyed year-round

It is 4.5 square meters and sturdy!

And thanks to the adaptable construction, the pod sways ever so gently in the wind!
