Beautiful Mexican ‘Casa en el Bosque’ Designed to Adapt to the Existing Pine Forest

Located 90 miles away from Mexico City, House in the Forest (Casa en el Bosque) in <a href="http://www.todovalle.net/" target="_blank">Valle de Bravo</a> is immersed in rich local flora and tall ancient trees. With astonishing views overlooking the mountains, Avándaro Lake and Cerro Gordo Nature Reserve, this house designed by <a href="http://www.parquehumano.com" target="_blank">Parque Humano Architects</a> honors its name. Featuring a deep respect for the surrounding environment, House in the Forest was built using locally-sourced, sustainable materials and designed <a href="http://inhabitat.com/organic-japanese-shell-residence-wraps-around-a-centenarian-fir-tree/" target="_blank">around the forest</a>.

Standing within a splendid plot covering 2 square miles, House in the Forest is very spacious, light and cool.

Built on a slope, it has different levels of views into the mountains and lake creating a close connection with the environment.

The house has two pavilions housing public and private areas, and a third space with a tranquil outdoors pool that seems to blend with the lake.

Because temperatures in Valle de Bravo can get very high, the house was built on top of a stonewall and dressed baked clay tiles.

Locally sourced stone and wood were used for the interiors, which are naturally-litted by big windows that bring nature in.

Intimately in contact with the outdoors, it features cute cutout details that allow trees to grow freely and provide much needed cool shades.

Designed with minimun impact and maximun respect, House in the Forest seems to be floating above the garden.
