Beam Me Up: Out of This World Ice Hotel Room Dazzles With Glowing UFOs!

<a href="http://www.pinpin.se">Pinpin Studio</a> just sent Inhabitat photos of their amazing "Beam Me Up" room at the <a href="http://www.icehotel.com/">Icehotel</a> in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden. Spending a night at this interstellar ice suite is an out of this world experience complete with beams of light, a carved ice forest, and flying saucers! The UFOs are made out of snow (like the walls and the ceiling), and the beams of light coming out of them are made out of the clearest ice in the world from Sweden's Torne River.

In "Beam Me Up", <a href="http://www.pinpin.se">Pinpin Studio</a> sought to combine an artistic approach with playfulness and humor.

They wanted visitors to feel as if they were part of a story - that something is going on around them and that they are involved. The world becomes a stage, and the visitor is transformed into an actor.

Upon entering the room, visitors are transported to a sci-fi scene where four UFOs hover over the trees surrounding Torne River in northern Sweden (just below the Northern Lights).

The room invites visitors to participate not only through its visual design, but also by letting them partially enter one of the beams to get beamed up, or by lying down on the illuminated hovering bed.

"Beam Me Up" is <a href="http://www.pinpin.se">Pinpin Studio</a>'s second suite for the <a href="http://www.icehotel.com/">Icehotel</a> - they did their first one, "Kraken´s Lair" last year.

<a href="http://www.pinpin.se">Pinpin Studio</a> consists of Christian Strömqvist and Karl-Johan Ekeroth, both of whom graduated with a MFA in Child Culture Design from <a href="http://www.hdk.gu.se/en">HDK</a>, the School of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg, Sweden.
