    During the darkest time of the year, a vibrant festival of light and water enlivens Amsterdam.     With plenty of brilliant works from Dutch and international artists the forty-four days Light Festival offers a great excuse to visit the charming Dutch city.

    One of the event’s main features is a beautiful 230-foot aerial sculpture suspended on the Amstel River, by Janet Echelman which maps the height of a tsunami wave.

    Belgians Odeaubois and ACT Lighting design presented OVO, a multi-sensory installation shaped like an egg, suspended on water pool and lit by colored LED lights.

    Another piece on show was a bridge made from repurposed old bikes, which are off course very easy to find in the Dutch capital.

    The InterContinental Amsterdam Amstel Hotel also took part in the fantastic winter wonderland event, featuring playful shadows and lights projections on its intricate façade ovelooking the Amstel River.
