New Zealand-based architecture firm Pattersons created the Annandale Seascape Cottage – a gorgeous retreat set into the rock in a tiny boulder-strewn cove in the South Pacific. The home is made from locally sourced materials (including stone carved from a nearby quarry), and it boasts fantastic views of the ocean and a warm atmosphere perfect for honeymooners.
The building includes only three rooms: a lobby, living room, small kitchen and a bathroom. It is self-sustainable since it harvests and filters on-site water, and its construction included an extensive reforestation and re-vegetation of the site. The structure itself capitalizes on the flexibility of the integrated joinery and shatter proof mullions, which utilize earthquake-resistant sliding heads.

The house features a lot of glass surfaces thanks to the living room, which opens up towards the Bay and offers far views of the Rocky Spires. Located in a remote landscape, the house is accessible exclusively by farm track or helicopter. Instead of acting as an obstacle, this has proved to be perfect for those looking for a secluded place to relax.
