Along with Slide Hill, workers are also constructing the adjacent Grassy Hill and Discovery Hill. The highest summit, standing in at 80 feet above the island, will provide visitors with a 360-degree panorama of the Statue of Liberty, New York Harbor and the Lower Manhattan skyline.

The hills are just one part of a larger project under construction at the island. Other features on the island include a six-acre plaza filled with seasonal plantings called Liggett Terrace, a Hammock Grove and a 14-acre-wide Play Lawn. The 30-acre green space is due to open in May 2014.
