Moon Ji Bang is a collaborative group consisting on Korean architects Choi Jangwon, Park Cheonkang and Kwon Kyungmin. Their magical installationwas inspired by the mythical Shinseon, a creature said to live on top of high mountains or above the clouds. The creators designed the heavenly landscape to “transcend the hustle-bustle of the human world of joy, anger, sorrow and pleasure”.
Located outside the museum, the mushroom field is made up of over 50 inflatable forms. Visitors can admire the fantastical installation by walking along a wooden bridge or exploring the flowerbeds they ‘grow’ from. The mushrooms’ flexible structure allows them to sway with the wind or move with a human touch.
Shinseon Play was made possible by the MoMA’s Young Architects Program (YAP) and it will be at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art until October – don’t miss it if you are around!
