Elephants are thought to bring good luck, and that’s certainly true for anyone lucky enough to stay in this elephant-shaped eco-resort in Sri Lanka. Located near the famous Yala National Park in southeast Sri Lanka, this unique villa is a 40-foot-tall, two-story elephant made entirely out of wood and straw.

The stunning eco-villa is made entirely out of all-natural materials and follows eco-friendly practices throughout. Made out of wood and straw, the two-story structure features an open-air lounge on the bottom floor under the elephant’s massive trunk. The interior space has two large bedrooms, a lounge on the upper deck and a full bathroom with running hot water.

Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant that serves authentic Sri Lankan meals made with local produce. Although there is electricity available, most of the meals are made using traditional techniques, with just the occasional use of an electric oven.

Located in the southeastern Uva Province of Sri Lanka, the villa holds court on 16 pristine acres of natural forest. The property backs up to the Yala wildlife sanctuary, but guests to the retreat won’t have to go far to enjoy the local wildlife. Peacocks and elephants roam around the area on a daily basis. Guests will also be able to enjoy the stunning local scenery through various outdoor activities, such as hiking the many nature paths that wind through the nearby forest. There is also a mini adventure course with zip lines and a sky bridge that crosses through the tree canopy.

Starting at $170 per night, the elephant eco-villa can accommodate up to 10 people but has a minimum occupancy of four guests.
