Amsterdam’s CityHub is a futuristic affordable hotel for digitally savvy travelers

The <a href="http://cityhub.com/" target="_blank">CityHub</a> hotel, located in an old warehouse in <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/amsterdam/" target="_blank">Amsterdam</a>, is the perfect place for Gen Y travelers that have fully embraced the digital lifestyle. Touch screens, interactive features and futuristic <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tiny-sleeping-pod-for-entrepreneurs-in-utah-doubles-as-a-guesthouse-and-office/" target="_blank">sleeping units</a> make it look like a mix between Far-East capsule hotels and the set design of the Fifth Element, while the hotel's spacious lounge area provides a more analogue feeling and a cozy space for mingling with other guests.

Designed for a generation that is interconnected through digital tools, the CityHub takes the idea of temporary accommodation to a whole new level.

The hotel is located in an old industrial warehouse and differs from most available solutions by providing the privacy of a hotel and the affordability of a hostel.

Each guest can get a personal RFID wristband, which allows them to check in and use the bar by themselves, eliminating many of the inefficient procedures usually found in both hotels and hostels.

The idea behind the project was to create an environment which caters to the needs of modern, digitally savvy travelers.

Among other digital features, the hotel offers access to an app which includes interactive travel guide tips and a chat room that allows guests to share information and connect with each other.

Real-time suggestions from a CityHost provide information on current events and activities.

CityHub includes 50 private sleeping units called Hubs, each equipped with a double bed, Wi-Fi, mood lighting and customizable music streaming systems.

While the bathrooms are shared with other guests, the pods offer more privacy than conventional hotels.
