Last week, BKLYN Designs took over the Brooklyn Expo Center, filling it with some of the BK’s most exciting design innovators. Inhabitat was on the show floor scoping out every nook and cranny in search of the best green designs. Then, we rounded up our sustainable selections as finalists in our Green Awards, and asked you, our readers, to vote for your favorite. And as always, the Inhabitat team also weighed in to choose a winner for the Editors’ Choice Award. So without further ado, here are the winners of the 2015 Inhabitat Green Awards!
And the winners are…
READER’S CHOICE: PHIL GAUTREAU
2014 Green Award winner Phil Gautreau clearly was not satisfied with just one win under his belt because he came out swinging again this year with an arsenal of rich wooden bowls, vases and cutting boards. It was a close battle but in the end, our readers voiced their choice and crowned Phil’s gorgeous goods made from locally sourced and reclaimed woods as their #1 pick at BKLYN Designs.
EDITORS’ CHOICE: FAHZ
When Nick Desbiens designed a 3D-printed vase based on his loved ones’ faces as an overly ambitious Mother’s Day gift for his wife Martha, he had no idea how popular the item would become among family and friends. After seeing how much people loved their personalized face profile vases, the couple decided to launch Fahz, a service that allows you to upload photos of your family members’ or even your pets’ faces and turn them into vases. We love Fahz‘s concept of reimagining a family portrait as a 3D-printed object, and Petey, our youngest Inhabitat correspondent, couldn’t get enough of their 3D printing process.
