The brilliant artist who transformed her parents’ home into the ultimate monster house for Halloween has now turned it into a deceptively delightful gingerbread house for the holiday season. Christine McConnell, the famed baker and photographer of intricate and creeptastic treats, has created a scene straight out of Hansel and Gretel – with her niece and nephew posing as the characters to round out the masterpiece.

The home’s frosting and peppermint candy details were fashioned by hand out of lightweight foam board and expertly painted to give depth to the project. A nylon rope was tied together and stretched across the rooftop to give the appearance of icing.

Neighbors say the home is truly a sight to behold, especially with its nighttime spotlights.
