Awesome Velodrome Trebles as a Bike Pavilion and Cafe in China

<a href="http://www.nlarchitects.nl/">NL Architects</a> was commissioned to design a sweet bike pavilion and cafe as part of a resort development they are working on in southern China. And this is what they came up with: given the sweltering temperatures common in the tropics, the Dutch firm decided to give the project an extended roof that would shade visitors. But then they realized it didn't have to be any old hum drum roof, so they designed a curvy, fenced-off <a href="http://inhabitat.com/hopkins-architects-completes-londons-2012-olympic-velodrome-stadium/">velodrome</a> instead!

Housing corporation VANKE commissioned NL Architects to design a sweet biking pavilion

Their response is a velodrome that trebles as a bike rental facility and cafe

The curvilinear design looks suspiciously like a pagoda

But the protruding roof also provides shade

Stairs lead to the lower level cafe and bike rental place

And the best part, this awesome project is soon to be a reality in southern China!
