This year’s CANstruction exhibition was part of the Architecture and the City Festival, and it was displayed in the atrium of the downtown Rincon Center, a popular lunch spot for office workers in San Francisco’s Financial District.

The yearly event seeks to highlight the creative talents of local organizations while working towards a positive goal.

Participating teams included many local design, engineering, and architecture firms, including MK2 Engineers, Crome Architecture, ARUP, Riverbed Technology, and KMD Architecture.

This year’s theme sought to catch the eye of the viewer while also drawing attention to the ongoing problem of hunger.

When it was time for the exhibit to come down at the conclusion of theArchitecture + The City Festival, the dismantled CANstruction displays yielded almost 30,000 cans of food that were donated to local food banks.
