With 18 stores in Toruń, one of the oldest cities in Poland, this traditional bakery has renovated its store and its character. Tasked with the renovation, Poznań-based Mode:lina architekci left the traditional enamel white tiles and checked floors untouched. And then, beautifully combining the old and the new, they updated the space with wooden light fixtures and counters and recycled old baking sheets as wall tiles.

The architects explain where the inspiration came from: “The meeting with centenarian story of this family’s craftsmanship was a huge inspiration for the new interior design. An aroma of fresh bread, huge ovens and old worn out baking sheets made it clear that the fusion of tradition and modern design is the answer.”
