David Stark’s Pop-Up Wood Shop Offers Sustainable Wooden Valentines and More!

Shopping in New York is an art in and of itself. Designer <a href="http://davidstarkdesign.com/" target="_blank">David Stark's</a> newest pop-up store is part gallery, part studio, filled with his hand crafted wooden treats just in time for Valentine's Day. For the next three weeks, Nina Freudenberger has handed over her posh Nolita shop, <a href="http://hausinterior.com/index.php/exhibitions.html/" target="_blank">Haus Interior</a> to her friend Stark who has packed it to the brim with unique gifts, toys, home accessories, and more, many of which are made from leftover wood from his design studio. There is something for everyone in this fun little Wood Shop, but you better hurry as these timber trinkets are flying off the shelves!

David Stark works with wood for a living, designing some of the most<a href="http://inhabitat.com/david-starks-incredible-recycled-cardboard-creations/" target="_blank"> incredibly unique</a> home pieces in New York. After taking stock of his studio surroundings, he decided to use his leftover scraps to create as many pieces as possible that not only celebrated his practice but also the tools and materials he used each day.

The result was <a href="http://hausinterior.com/index.php/exhibitions.html/" target="_blank">75 cheeky pieces</a> including pencil holders, coffee cans, and even super sweet valentines.

Using<a href="http://www.aboutus.org/SmartPly.com" target="_blank"> SmartPly</a>, a composite of timber scraps, Stark also offers a wooden candlestick iphone charger and glass-lined reusable wood flower vases of all sizes.

Even fun pieces like telephones and fake foods show Stark's playful design wit and range.

While wooden works steal the show, Stark has also filled the store with <a href="http://www.davidstarksketchbook.com/" target="_blank">fun vintage pieces</a> and collected materials from his studio. This jar of nails becomes a beautiful piece of art.

Vintage charms of hammers and wrenches are paired with simple chains to create fun necklaces. On view until February 27th, David Stark's Wood Shop may be the beginning of pop-up takeover shopping.
