NAIAS 2013: Smart Debuts New CityFlame Edition in Detroit

<a title="Smart Car" href="http://www.smart.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/smart-content-Site/-/-/-/Default-Start/" target="_blank">Smart</a> came to the <a title="Inhabitat: 2013 Detroit auto show" href="http://inhabitat.com/index.php?s=detroit+auto+show" target="_blank">Detroit Auto Show</a> with a whole bevy of tiny beauties for us to ogle, but its only truly new offering is the Fortwo special edition cityflame. With banana yellow body panels contrasting with its black <a title="Smart Tridion Safety Cell" href="http://www.smartusa.com/safety/" target="_blank">tridion safety cell</a> and mirror caps, the cityflame looks like a bumblebee buzzing down the road. As with all sporty bees, the interior features black leather and fabric seats with yellow contrast stitching, and a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel with shift paddles and the same yellow stitching. The cityflame also includes black <a title="BRABUS" href="http://www.brabus.com/en/index.html" target="_blank">BRABUS</a> wheels and custom floor mats.

Sound too sporty to be green? Well, the cityflame still features the brand's barely adequate 3-cylinder engine with 70 horsepower and 68 lb-ft of torque.

And with a 0-60 time of 12.9 seconds and a top speed of 90 mph, you will still wonder why your smart car only gets 36 EPA-rated combined mpg.

But we love the infinite customizable options on the new generation of smart cars, and can't wait for their electric drive tech to outpace their tiny engines.

The car will hit showrooms this summer.
