
The idea for the collaboration between Neal and the famous architect originated from the Wish List of the American Hardwood Export Counciland Benchmark Furniture, which envisioned pairing designers and architects in order to create innovative designs and projects. The sculptural vases play with the idea of traditional manufacturing processes and simulate hand-making through digital imitation.

The design duo started with the conventional form of the vessel and drastically changed its appearance by mimicking traditional manufacturing techniques. A robotic arm made the forms, adding to the ambiguity of the idea of the handmade.
