Dwell on Design is back in Los Angeles this month, showcasing an incredible array of modern design from June 26-28. Now in its sophomore year at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the three-day design festival brings together the best and brightest from the design industry to offer visitors “real live modern design” in the form of an expansive exhibition, design conference, home tours and special events. For fans of all things sustainable, we’ve scoured the schedule to find the show’s green highlights. It looks like there will be a lot to check out, and there are of course a few familiar Inhabitat faces in the line up.
This year, author Daniel Pink will be giving the keynote, launching the conference with a conversation about the surprising science of motivation and creativity. Besides endless rows of exhibitors showcasing the newest design products for the modern home, Dwell on Design will feature some special, curated exhibitions that will definitely be worth a look. Back for the third year in a row, Dwell Outdoor will feature modern outdoor living trends, including landscape architecture, outdoor furnishings, and prefab architecture. Inhabitat-featured miniHome and Modern Shed are two just two of the exhibitors that will be part of this innovative, pop-up community. Also check out Reclaimed Design, a beautiful modern room staged with pieces entirely reclaimed from the Los Angeles Times classifieds and reinvented by a bevy of talented Dwell-picked designers.
The conference will offer two days of sustainability forumprogramming covering a variety of green topics, ranging from building an eco-friendly kitchen to creating gardens and green in the city, to building sustainable communities. On Sunday, the day kicks off with a discussion about socially engaged design with Project H founder Emily Pilloton and Dwell Editor Sarah Rich, both former Inhabitat editors. The ever popular home tours are also back this year; don’t miss the incredible modern pads showcased in the Eastside Home Tour on Saturday and the West Side Home Tour on Sunday. And new in the line up of events this year is Dwell on Design: A Night at the Movies, featuring back-to-back screenings of architectural movies at the Geffen Contemporary.
