Green-Roofed Chipicas Townhouses Blend Into the Environment With Wood-Wrapped Facades

These Chipicas Town Houses are a series of four beautiful residences in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico" target="_blank">Mexico</a> topped with lush <a href="http://inhabitat.com/green-roofs/" target="_blank">green roof</a> gardens. <a href="alejandrosanchezgarcia.com" target="_blank">Alejandro Sanchez Garcia</a> designed the buildings with vertical layouts in order to limit their footprint and preserve the surrounding vegetation. The three-story buildings incorporate contrasting facades - two have floor-to-ceiling windows and two are concealed behind <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/timber/" target="_blank">timber</a> lattice.

Built in 2009, the houses are nestled amidst a private garden in downtown <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valle_de_Bravo" target="_blank">Valle de Bravo</a>, Mexico.

The houses are spread over 720 square meters of land to ensure ample privacy for each residence.

Their shaded wooden exteriors help them blend in with their surroundings while filtering light so that the interiors doesn't get too hot.

Open, airy interiors feature large windows that give residents expansive views over the surrounding greenery.

Lofty bedrooms let residents sleep amidst the trees.

The project was designed by <a href="alejandrosanchezgarcia.com" target="_blank">Alejandro Sanchez Garcia</a>, Alfredo Cortes Tellez, Miguel Campero, and José Luis Salamanca.
