Team ABC’s Green-Roofed Sumbiosi Solar Decathlon House is a Low-Impact Bioclimatic Dwelling

Bioclimatic design, cutting-edge technology and humanity comprise the three most important elements of Team ABC's sun-powered <a href="http://www.sumbiosi.com/eng/">Sumbiosi house</a> for the <a href="http://inhabitat.com/solar-decathlon/">2012 Solar Decathlon in Spain</a>. The group from the prestigious Aquitaine Bordeaux campus wanted a low-impact dwelling that would also optimize comfort, and they achieve all of this through a variety of advanced sustainability measures. Team ABC aspired for optimum comfort and efficiency with their Sumbiosi design for the Solar Decathlon in Europe

The solar-powered prefab home also relies on passive solar heating, along with daylighting and natural ventilation

A self-irrigating green roof and natural wastewater treatment system conserve water

The home is constructed mostly out of Maritime Pine, which is widely available

This material also has high thermal performance, increasing the home's overall energy efficiency
