  • Kasetsart University Urban Farm Vertical Green Block
After devastating floods hit Bangkok in 2011 leaving university staff cut off from food, Kasetsart University decided to build an urban farm on the rooftop of their Faculty of Architecture building to not only sustain everyday needs, but also provide food in the event of a disaster. Developed with help from the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, the Faculty of Architecture and Kasetsart University, the 196 sqm urban farm is filled with various herbs and vegetables and features three innovations -- a green roof mat, a vertical green block and a biofacade -- by associate professor Pasinee Sunakorn, who won the The National Research Council of Thailand's Invention Award earlier this year.
