Lodekka: A British Double Decker Bus Transformed into a Vintage Boutique in Portland

Many buses don't get much action after they've reached the end of the road (so to speak) transporting passengers around - they're either mined for parts or worse yet, sit abandoned in a lonely lot somewhere. Ginny got lucky. Who's that, you ask? Ginny is the name lovingly given to a British double decker bus that now lives its life as <a href="http://www.lodekka.com/">Lodekka</a>, a vintage boutique and dress shop in Portland, Oregon. Photographer <a href="http://leelacyd.com/">Leela Cyd Ross</a>, who lives right around the corner from the retro shop filled with clothing, objets d'art and other cool stuff was kind enough to share her lovely pics of the madeover wheels and wares within with us - take a peek!

<a href="http://www.facebook.com/lodekka">Lodekka</a>'s owner, Erin Sutherland, originally found Ginny in Springfield, Oregon, but explains that there is no record of how exactly she got there.

The Bristol Lodekka double decker bus was originally manufactured in July of 1965 and spent most of her past life providing public <a href="http://inhabitat.com/category/transportation/">transportation</a> to the people of Liverpool, England.

In 1982, Decathlon Athletic Club in Burnsville, Minnesota bought Ginny and she was transported to the States.

According to the Lodekka website, no one really knows how long she stayed there, or how she got from Minnesota to Oregon.

But that's all in the past. Now, the double decker has a fresh white coat, crisp red lettering and an interior bursting with a bubblegum hue.

It's pretty clear that taking an old <a href="http://inhabitat.com/eco-advertising-50-cars-or-1-bus/">bus</a>, fixing it up and transforming it into something new is eco-friendly, but don't forget, the wares inside the shop are green too.

They've got everything from shoes to shirts to skirts and stuff for the gents as well.
