Maison & Objet’s Parcours Fil Vert Showcases Imaginative Eco Products at Paris Design Week

    Every two years the large-scale trade show <a title="Paris' Grand Maison &amp; Objet Trade Show: Crafts vs. High-Tech" href="http://www.maison-objet.com/" target="_blank">Maison&amp;Object</a> opens <a title="Paris' Grand Maison&amp;Objet Trade Show: Crafts vs. High-Tech" href="http://www.parisdesignweek.fr/en/" target="_blank">Paris Design Week</a>, providing an impressive showcase of international product and interior designs. This year they invited Inhabitat was honored to participate as a judge at the Parcours Fil Vert competition, which highlights the best of the eco-friendly designs and ethical companies at the show. Click through for our exclusive images of some of the most fascinating green designs at the show—from delicate products that use traditional craft techniques to soaring high-tech LED chandeliers.

    Swedish designer<a title="Paris' Grand Maison&amp;Objet Trade Show: Crafts vs. High-Tech" href="http://www.iris.se/174.html" target="_blank"> Iris Shantverk</a> has been making functional brushes since 1884, crafted from unusual <a title="Paris' Grand Maison&amp;Objet Trade Show: Crafts vs. High-Tech" href="http://inhabitat.com/kursi-java-is-a-biodegradable-rattan-seat-for-sitting-comfortably-on-the-floor/" target="_blank">biodegradable</a> materials including horse hair, cactus fibers and goat hair, paired with local wood to help to reduce water consumption.

Created by local craftsmen they bring cool, retro styling to the iPod dock.

    The <a title="Paris' Grand Maison&amp;Objet Trade Show: Crafts vs. High-Tech" href="https://www.sneakpeeq.com/colors" target="_blank">Colors</a>´ designed Kioto Kamiko is a flat pouch for carrying everyday essentials, crafted using an ancient<a title="Paris' Grand Maison&amp;Objet Trade Show: Crafts vs. High-Tech" href="http://inhabitat.com/artist-yumiko-matsui-recreates-the-city-of-tokyo-entirely-from-paper/" target="_blank"> Japanese paper</a>-making technique. The paper is coated several times with PVA glue and then crumpled, during which is becomes stronger and waterproof.

    Using knitted plants and recycled recycled fabrics, <a title="Paris' Grand Maison&amp;Objet Trade Show: Crafts vs. High-Tech" href="http://bestbefore.fr/" target="_blank">CO O &amp; CO</a> create household objects that mix capim dorado with LEDs, felt, yute or straw with energy efficient pendant lights. The company sources their in Brasil, Poland, Korea and Kirghistan and employs local craftsmanship.
