Mischer’traxler recently collaborated with a team of expert woodworkers in Lebanon to create a beautifully intricate wooden table. Dubbed ‘Gradient Mashrabiya’, this multi-purpose table uses the traditional method of constructing mashrabiyas to create an ornate yet contemporary piece. A celebration to traditional Middle Eastern craft, the Gradient Mashrabiya is definitely not your average IKEA table.
By lathing small oak parts of mashrabiyas, Mischer’traxler hand-created a modern piece that successfully showcases and celebrates traditional craftwork. The studio used 650 distinct pieces of manually carved oak for the table.
The concept was originally created for a commission by the Carwan Gallery.
