New Batman Movie May be Filmed in Transylvania’s Salina Turda Salt Mine

If the rumors are true, the Batcave may be getting a green facelift. <a href="http://www.darkknightrisesrumors.com/">The Dark Knight Rises Rumors site</a> reports that in one of the most exciting <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/adaptive-reuse/">adaptive re-use projects</a> to date, Transylvania's old <a href="http://www.salinaturda.eu/index.php?lang=en">Salina Turda Salt Mine</a> could be Christopher Nolan's location of choice for the latest Batman movie to be released next summer. Nolan unofficially visited what is now a popular tourism site in Romania last January, while producers on the project met with Bucharest officials to discuss the potential of filming. Although an interior set is also being built at Warner Bros.' studios in Los Angeles, the salt mine's <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tianjin-eco-city-is-a-futuristic-green-landscape-for-350000-residents/">futuristic lighting</a> and gnarly infrastructure are already fit for a Batman location, obviating the need to use more resources for the film. And producers of The Dark Knight Rises met with officials in Bucharest

Rumors have proliferated that Nolan will be using the salt mine as a potential film location for the next batman film

If true, this would be an excellent choice

The mine's lighting is already so futuristic looking

And the infrastructure so enigmatic

That Nolan would have to make few interventions to make this location suitable

The mine also has a stable microclimate

Though humidity is high

Nolan is famous for preferring real locations for his blockbuster films

Though part of the interior set is being built at the Warner Bros. Studio in L.A.
