New Pop-Up Shipping Container Restaurant Brings a Taste of Singapore to the World

<a href="http://www.yoursingapore.com/content/traveller/en/browse/whats-on/festivals-and-events/spice/singapore-takeout.html" target="_blank">Singapore Takeout</a>, a custom <a href="http://inhabitat.com/muvbox-fast-food-shipping-container-restaurant/">mobile shipping container restaurant</a>, launched its global tour earlier this month in London. Sponsored by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, Singapore Tourism Board (STB), and SPRING Singapore, the mobile restaurant will travel the world for the next 12 months to 9 different cities as a way to promote Singapore's cuisine and encourage the exchange of culinary ideas through the <a href="http://www.yoursingapore.com/spice" target="_blank">Singapore International Culinary Exchange (SPICE)</a>. The 20 ft container was outfitted with the latest in kitchen equipment and features a fold down front to reveal a counter with chefs working away behind it. 

The mobile pop up restaurant is just one part of Singapore's campaign to introduce their cuisine to the world.

Besides traveling around the globe serving up tasty bites, the campaign is also offering a Global Chef Exchange.

The Global Chef Exchange encourages the exchange of culinary ideas between local and foreign chefs and restaurateurs by immersion in Singapore’s food culture.

Restaurateurs, markets and distribution companies will also have a chance to meet with representatives from Singapore food brands for potential collaborations.

The 20 ft shipping container is outfitted with sleek kitchen equipment in order to serve up traditional as well as inspired and innovative dishes.

The tour kicked off in London under the leadership of Chef Janice Wong, but is now on its way to Paris where it will be open from June 30th to July 2nd.

Singapore Takeout will also travel to Moscow, New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Delhi, Dubai and Sydney.

The shipping container kitchen will serve as both restaurant kitchen and a demonstration kitchen in order to show off Singapore's culinary talent, cuisine and food brands.
