
The facade of the building references the chest feathers of the endangered Carnaby Black Cockatoo (Ngoolark). This solution was developed in collaboration with the local Aboriginal community and Kurongkurl Katitjin (ECU’s centre for indigenous studies).

The skin creates a kaleidoscopic three-dimensional effect in all directions. On one hand, it appears as a continuous space but it becomes truly transparentwhen viewed from the inside. The color of the aluminiumhas changing qualities and was combined with the mix of gold Alucobond panels which are also used on the cores and lower level walls.
