House Tour: Historic Chelsea Townhouse Renovated with Multiple Patios and a Glittering Glass Enclosure

When it was purchased back in 2012, 460 W. 22nd was in bad shape and even occupied by squatters, according to the owners. Now, two years later, the historic four-bedroom <a href="http://www.elliman.com/new-york-city/460-west-22-street-manhattan-bntohsr?noredirect">Chelsea townhouse</a> has been renovated from top to bottom, and is attracting all kinds of attention -- including a <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/blake-fleetwood/obama-disripts-quiet-chel_b_5947862.html">visit from President Obama</a> earlier this month. The <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italianate_architecture">Italianate townhouse</a>, located right next to Clement Moore Park, was first built in 1840, but had fallen into disrepair since then.

Bill White and Bryan Eure saw the potential of the single-family home, and purchased it for $4.6 million back in 2012.

After an extensive makeover and restoration by <a href="http://www.sukdesign.com/">Suk Design Group</a> and Stephen Fanuka of <a href="http://fanuka.com/">Fanuka, Inc.</a> and <a href="http://www.hgtv.com/million-dollar-contractor/show/index.html">HGTV's Million Dollar Contractor</a>, the owners are <a href="http://www.elliman.com/new-york-city/460-west-22-street-manhattan-bntohsr?noredirect">now selling the property</a> for a cool $16.3 million.

The 4-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom home boasts six floors, allowing it to maximize its <a href="http://inhabitat.com/nyc/tag/skinny-home/">narrow floorplan</a> into approximately 5,000 square feet of living space.

One of the property's biggest selling points is the spacious, light-flooded kitchen, complete with state-of-the-art appliances, a massive island and an abundance of built-in storage along two walls.

A wall of windows spills daylight into the kitchen and dining area and leads into a peaceful backyard garden.

The grandiose staircase was restored and rebuilt and can be seen from nearly every floor of the home.

One floor up, an opulent formal living room opens up onto a charming terrace overlooking the first-floor garden.
