17John Cotel Weco public space winnerEarlier this year, <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/prodigy-network/" target="_blank">Prodigy Network</a> led NYC's first crowdfunded and crowdsourced hotel competition - and now they've announced the winners! Designers from all around the world were asked to redefine the future of the hotel industry by designing the <a href="http://inhabitat.com/17john-design-the-worlds-first-crowdsourced-hotel-and-win-50000-in-prizes/" target="_blank">17John Cotel</a> (short for collaborative hotel). Prodigy Network's experimental contest sought crowdsourced designs for everything from private suites and collaborative public areas to the hotel's digital services.1
17John Cotel Weco public space winnerLocated at the heart of the Financial District, 17John is a 1920s art-deco building that will be expanded to include a new 23 story tall glazed rooftop extension to consist of 191 furnished units for both short term and extended business stays.2
