• Super Skinny Office Transforms an Alley into a Glam Workspace Vanessa Deleon
A talented interior designer can take a space from drab to fab, but how about from alley to office? A true testament to her abilities, designer Vanessa DeLeon transformed a slender sliver between two buildings in Edgewater, NJ into a chic and functional workspace for her growing firm. Read on to check out SpacesTV's video of the slim but stylish office, as well as Vanessa's design tips for small spaces.

Although DeLeon has since moved her offices to Manhattan, she still lives by many of the same design techniques she employed in her Edgewater location, and offered the following advice to those looking to create tight but functional and attractive environments:

"It's important to use vertical space. By doing that, you can really utilize the negative space you have on hand and get cabinets and other furniture off of the floor by using hooks and mounted shelves and storage."

Vanessa used simple and inexpensive rails and hooks from IKEA to store and display her fabric swatches for easy access.

"I really believe that less is more," she continued. "It's good if you can purge as much as you can, but if that's not possible, clear furniture and lucite furniture are another way you can open up your space since light passes right through them."

Glamorous touches like crystal chandeliers at opulence to the small space.
