wework living New YorkThousands of freelancers and small companies across New York (and the world) call <a href="https://www.wework.com" target="_blank">WeWork</a> their <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/co-working-space/" target="_blank">co-working</a> home, but what about just calling it home? The shared-space giant has decided to branch out into real estate world, and recently launched its first <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/communal-living/" target="_blank">communal living concept</a> on Wall Street. The brand new co-living apartment opened up 45 units, occupied by 80 new residents, this week.1
wework living New YorkWeWork’s 110 Wall Street location is already packed with seven floors of their signature innovative coworking spaces, packed with chic furniture, free coffee and a communal atmosphere. Topping their rentable office are now 45 apartments, completely furnished in their modern style, and fit for beta testing the co-living program.2
wework living New YorkLike any other apartment complex, the WeWork communal living spaces are complete with studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, each designed and decorated to fit into the WeWork brand. In the vein of WeWork are more amenities than a totally private apartment.3
wework living New YorkEach unit has a kitchen and private bathroom, but also includes community spaces, kept in check by a community manager that sounds an awful lot like an RA in a dorm.4
wework living New YorkResidents are brought together the WeWork way with activities like communal dinners, fitness classes and game night.5
wework living New YorkYoga studios, movie theaters and a weekly cleaning service are included in the unspecified rent costs, as is furniture, Wi-fi and cable.6
wework living New YorkWeWork hopes that the community-driven living concept will appeal to affluent young professionals flocking to New York, in the same way that the new fleet of <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/micro-apartments/" target="_blank">micro-apartment plans </a>are, while building a social network found at home. If successful, WeWork plans to expand the Wall Street location to include 200 units.7
