Following Cleveland State University’s plan to give the area a makeover, the campus would integrate a safe learning environment with inspirational high design. The communal layout encourages children of every age group to interact with each other and the environment outside.

Downtown Cleveland is an area already packed with diverse historical architecture, and the sweeping honeycomb design of the Campus International School would be right at home.

The campus layout is based on a street map, making the classroom spaces accessible to all other areas, such as a cafeteria, a media center, a learning hub area, and a range of outdoor playgrounds.

The organic shape of the campus encourages safety - there are no blind spots or hidden corners for children to get lost in.

Below the honeycomb structure lies a communal learning area. Some portions of the hexagonal shapes have been converted into skylights, which light the area below.

Above, the honeycomb roof is covered in grass, providing a playing field for children that allows the building to blend in with the landscape. The skylights provide a fun glimpse of the activity inside the school from above.

OS+A’s driving force is to incorporate natural organic landscapes with architectural design, and The Campus International School’s plan does just that by encouraging students to interact with one another and their surrounding landscape.
