No balcony space? No problem - you can still have a garden with this handy dandy window planter system. Designed by French design team Barreau&Charbonnet, "Volet Végétal" is an urban gardening device that lets you suspend planters in your window and raise and lower the system to get more sun. The sturdy frame holds three planter trays that pivot to remain upright regardless of whether the device is lowered or vertical.

"Volet Végétal" is a design for an urban planting system that allows apartment dwellers to grow veggies and herbs, even if they don't have much space.

The system neatly fits within a window frame and holds three planter trays in a pivoting holder.

A simple set of tension bars, strings and pulleys allows the user to lower the frame from vertical to horizontal to gain more sun.

Barreau&Charbonnet, which is run by Nicolas Barreau and Jules Charbonnet based in Paris and Nantes respectively, came up with the design as a way to find a connection between plants and people even within a dense urban city.
