Located in the western state of Vorarlberg, Austria, the Gudrun House is a peaceful retreat built on a very tight budget. The home was designed by Sven Matt Architects who used natural, prefabricated materials to create a minimalist retreat that feels light and airy. This beautiful home was designed for its inhabitants to enjoy uninterrupted views of the valley below.
The design of Gudrun House is simple and clever; it consists of a large living space, two small bedrooms and an entrance. The home is organized around a central core that contains the bathroom and the home’s mechanical and technical operations. The home features large windows on all sides, filling the house with natural light and amazing views.
Gudrun House’s surrounding walls are thick and heavily insulated. With a wooden terrace for reading or viewing wildlife, the house’s exterior contrasts with its warm interiors. Made entirely from prefab timber sitting on a concrete foundation, Gudrun House is a peaceful, low-budget retreat located in a beautiful setting.
