PHOTOS: A First Look Inside BIG’s Stunning Green-Roofed 8 Tallet Eco-Village

We've been closely following the development of <a href="http://www.big.dk/">Bjarke Ingels Group</a>'s <a href="http://inhabitat.com/8-tallet-green-roofed-apartment-complex-opens-in-denmark/">8 Tallet </a>in Copenhagen from the beginning, so when we were invited by both BIG and the<a href="http://www.ddc.dk/"> Danish Design Center</a> to take an exclusive tour of the structure, we were on the first plane out! Settled just 15 minutes from Copenhagen's historic city center (by bike or train , 8 Tallet is a beautiful mixed-use complex that fuses modern living with the delicate beauty of Denmark's landscape. From stunning views of cows grazing upon grass to a glimpse of Sweden just over the water, 8 Tallet took our breath away!

At 476 units, <a href="http://www.8tallet.dk/">8 Tallet</a> is Denmark's largest housing complex.

The structure's most distinguishing feature is a wide promenade that weaves through the entire building from the bottom to the top, affording <a href="http://inhabitat.com/giant-mangrove-patch-office-tower-rotates-to-provide-splendid-views-of-java-sea/">views</a> of all the units.

The building offers a range of services for residents in a free-flowing program that encourages community.

he multi-level, east-west design maximizes <a href="http://inhabitat.com/sun-tracker-skylights-pump-daylight-indoors/">daylight</a> throughout the units and the courtyard.

The building is without question colossal, but the careful management of space creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The apartments sell for $500,000 and upwards, and additional detached units are still under construction.

Visitors are invited to roam through the structure, <a href="http://inhabitat.com/manifesto-vertical-bike-storage-uses-cycles-as-attractive-urban-decor/">park their bike</a> in the expansive cycle lot, enjoy the cafe and enjoy the spectacular surrounding views of the land and wildlife.
