Sberbank Corporate University_1Russia's leading <a href="http://inhabitat.com/2010/05/11/european-investment-bank-wins-international-green-architecture-award/" target="_blank">bank</a> has just unveiled plans to construct a green-roofed corporate university designed by Dutch Architect <a href="http://www.erickvanegeraat.com/" target="_blank">Erick van Egeraat</a>. Located in a rural setting west of Moscow, the Sberbank University will provide education and training for the bank's 20,000 employees. To achieve a short construction time, the campus buildings will largely be <a href="../architecture/prefab-housing/" target="_blank">prefabricated</a>, and the plan focuses upon sustainability as a cornerstone of its design.1
Sberbank Corporate University_2Sberbank is one of Russia's largest banks and wanted to have a facility where they could train and further educate their employees. The campus is located west of Moscow in a wooded rural setting.2
Sberbank Corporate University_3A spine or colonnade connects all the campus buildings together and facilitates natural ventilation.3
Sberbank Corporate University_4Prefabricated wooden trusses, wooden facade pieces and glass panels will help the construction of this campus go much quicker.4
Sberbank Corporate University_5Vegetation will be planted on many of the horizontal surfaces to provide better insulation and make the campus even more attractive.5
Sberbank Corporate University_7The campus is composed of education facilities, conference rooms, student and teacher housing, recreational facilities, restaurants and clubs or lounges for socializing.6
Sberbank Corporate University_8The project was conceived as a long spine based on the nearby river. All of the campus buildings are stretched along the spine.7
