The active wall serves as a secret compartment of sorts, concealing most of apartment’s features at any given time. The folding and sliding partitions allow the home owners to hide the office space, storage, dining table and TV/video screen when not in use. The system allows the upper-floor unit to have an open and tranquil living space, free of clutter and obstacles.

Although adding space-efficiency to a small residence is never easy and rarely ends in something so sophisticated, the end outcome of the JPDA design is a gorgeous NYC home with a high-end feel. The monochromatic look, besides adding a sense of peace to the living space, also helps blend the interior to and the residence’s enviable open-air deck that offers stunning views of downtown Manhattan.
