Smart is giving the world a taste of the future with its Smart Forstars concept – an electric car with a movie projector mounted on the front! Set to debut later this month at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the Forstars concept is a Sports Utility Coupe (SUC) with room for two passengers and more cargo space than the Smart ForTwo.
Compared to the Smart ForTwo, the Smart Forstars concept is thirty inches longer and almost six inches wider. The exterior styling of the Forstars concept is instantly recognizable as a member of the Smart family, but according to Smart many of the striking design elements on the concept will be part of the automaker’s future design language.
The electric powertrain of the Smart Forstars concept is based on the same powertrain that powers the Smart Fortwo Brabus Electric Drive. Compared to the Smart Electric Drive the output of the magneto-electric motor in the Forstars has been increased to 60 kW. The vehicle has a top speed of more than 80 mph and the lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 17.6 kWh.
The Forstars concept is full of unique feature like a movie projector that is mounted on the front of the concept that gives you the ability to create a personal movie theatre; taillights that can be opened with one that houses the charging socket for the battery, while the other can old a beverage can; and a full glass roof that connects to a glass cover over the cargo area.
